Emergency Room
Washington County Hospital has a modern 24-hours-a-day Emergency
Department staffed by dedicated ER physicians who are well trained
in treating trauma and acutely ill patients. Physician coverage
is provided through Acute Care, Inc. one of the largest emergency
physician groups in the Midwest. All age groups are served and
no patient is denied assessment.
Services include initial triage
and assessment, urgent and emergency care for illness, injury
and trauma, stabilization for transfer to tertiary treatment
centers, and referrals to other levels of care, including hospital
admission. The decision to transfer is made by the physician
in consultation with the patient and/ or family.
Emergency Room
nurses and Physician Assistants are trained in CPR, trauma nursing
and critical care, pediatric emergencies, and certified in Advanced
Cardiac Life Support. Support staff, including laboratory and
diagnostic imaging and respiratory care, is available around
