Obstetrics
The focus of WCH's OB department is making the childbirth experience
as joyful and as safe as possible as we care for both mother
and baby during this exciting time. Patients receive one on one
nursing care throughout the labor process. Our nurses will assist
you by providing expert care, advice and support that you and
your baby need during the delivery process and afterwards.
Modern private rooms and up-to-date birthing rooms provide utmost
comfort for the family during this special time of life.
Pain management is a very important part of the delivery experience. At Washington County Hospital, the patient has a variety of choices for pain management that include epidurals and intrathecals. We offer childbirth and
sibling education classes and have a certified lactation specialist
to help with breastfeeding while in the hospital. All newborns
are screened for hearing defects and have enhanced laboratory
screening tests to detect metabolic birth defects. For more
information, call the OB department at (618) 327-2304 or the Rural
Health Clinic, (618) 327-2225
Our Obstetric services are designed for individualized patient care during labor, delivery and post partum. Our Lactation Specialist is available to assist new moms.
Quality primary and specialty care, available close to home
Washington County Hospital opened a provider-based Rural Health Clinic on August
2005 to better meet the needs of our community. The Rural Health Clinic (RHC)
improves access to primary care though the use of physicians and mid-level providers
such as PA's working extended hours to provide healthcare services to patients.
