Telemedicine
Rural areas throughout the United States are losing medical
doctors and specialists to bigger metropolitan areas. Aging
baby boomers are finding it harder to travel to big cities
for medical treatment. How do we get these underserved patients
to doctors and specialists to take care of their medical
needs?
One innovative idea and solution is Telemedicine, high tech
video conference equipment enabling the patient to talk to a
doctor miles and miles away. Patients are able to stay in their
area and not have to travel long distances to see a specialty
doctor. The medical provider is able to examine and diagnose
the patient through the use of this state of the art equipment.
A number of studies have shown that this concept reduces
healthcare costs, shortens and even eliminates hospital stays
and reduces the travel time of the patient.
Washington County Hospital & Rural Health Clinic is happy to
bring this high tech medical care to patients in the Nashville
area. Cassandra Claman, M.D., board certified dermatologist
began seeing patients at Washington County Hospital & Rural
Health Clinic in February.
Patients are able to come to Washington County Hospital for
their video appointments with Dr. Claman. Through the use of
the state of the art video equipment, patients can ask
questions and converse with Dr. Claman during the examination.
Any additional testing, surgery or biopsy will be done at
Washington County Hospital & Rural Health Clinic by a qualified
surgeon. Patients will never have to leave the area for
dermatology care.
Dr. Claman accepts most insurance. Patients are asked to call
their insurance for precertification/preauthorization before
scheduling an appointment with her.
For an appointment with Dr. Claman, call the Rural Health
Clinic at (618) 327-2225.
