Washington County Hospital is a JCAHO-accredited organization that
provides specialized care to meet the needs of individual patients and
families. The hospital’s Med/Surg unit is licensed for 25 beds. Patient
care is coordinated by Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and
Certified Nursing Assistants under the direction the patient’s
physician. This highly trained nursing staff works closely with other
departments (rehab therapies, laboratory, social services, pharmacy, diagnostic
imaging, dietary and housekeeping) to facilitate patient care.
Services include 24 hour care, cardiac monitoring, respiratory care, specific
pharmaceutical therapies including IV therapy and transfusions, respite
care, restorative care and clinical monitoring. Support staff is
available 24 hours a day. Social services include discharge planning,
resource referrals, advance directives, crises intervention and utilization
management. The Med/Surg unit is utilized primarily for general
medical and surgery patients and skilled care patients. As a designated
Critical Access Hospital, the 25 beds are licensed swing beds and may be
used for either medical patients or skilled nursing patients.
Hospice
care rooms are available for the care of terminally ill patients and
Respite care rooms are available when care-giving families need short-term
