For decades, the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary has been a cornerstone of support, service, and compassion within our organization. Comprised entirely of dedicated volunteers, the Auxiliary plays a vital role in enhancing patient care, supporting staff, and strengthening our connection to the community.
A Tradition of Service
The Hospital Auxiliary was formed with a simple mission: to uplift the hospital through volunteerism, fundraising, and community engagement. Today, that mission remains strong as members continue to dedicate thousands of hours each year to creating a welcoming and comforting environment for patients and their families.
Members of the Auxiliary manage the WCH Gift Shop is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM. The WCH Thrift Shop located on Main Street is open on Fridays from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM and is also managed by the volunteers.
Fundraising That Makes a Difference
The goal of the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary is to raise funds to purchase items for inpatient and outpatient services.
One of the Auxiliary’s most impactful contributions comes from its ongoing fundraising efforts. Through popular community events such as bake sales, craft fairs, raffles, gift shop, and the WCH Thrift Shop, the Auxiliary helps fund important hospital needs, including:
-
Patient comfort items
-
Medical equipment
-
Department enhancements
-
Community health initiatives
Their generosity directly benefits patients, staff, and the overall quality of care we provide.
Creating a Welcoming Community Connection
The Auxiliary serves as a bridge between the hospital and the community. Members help ensure that the hospital remains a place where patients feel supported not only by staff but by neighbors, friends, and caring volunteers who give their time simply to help others.
Their involvement strengthens the hospital’s outreach, promotes health education, and helps foster a sense of belonging throughout the community.
Volunteers With Heart
While the Auxiliary’s contributions are substantial, it is their spirit of service that leaves the greatest impact. Each member brings compassion, dedication, and a deep desire to give back. Their efforts touch countless lives—from patients receiving care to staff who rely on their support.
